My First Travel into Leafenheim City

Apple Pass

The last week has been bitterly cold here in Denmark so I thought it would be a good time to take a trip to Leafenheim city to start my work as ambassador of Dragonia.  My husband was looking after the twins while I was gone.

I had no idea if any one in Leafenheim beside Gry would know who I am, but I wanted to make sure that I was able to experience Leafenheim, and its inhabitants with out any one knowing who I am, so I dressed up in a hooded cloak. Although I am appointed as ambassador of Dragonia I want to do a fair job, and try to learn about both fractions of fairies before I try to mediate between them.

Early in the morning I gathered my things, and went into my garden. I sat down under the apple tree at the small door way I found in one of the trees, and took the fairy sizing potion. It didn't taste bad, it was sweet, and smelled like a mix of elderberries and apples. I started to feel dizzy although I was sitting down, then it felt like my body was lifted from the ground, and I didn't feel the cold from the snow I had been sitting in any more.

I was floating a few inches above the ground, when my eyes closed, and I fell into a dreamlike mode. I saw my self being placed on a big leaf, by a fairy with rainbow colored wings and hair, she blowed into my left ear, and I could here tinkling bells mix with the sound of rain drops. Then all went dark and I woke up in the door way of the apple tree.

I had gained the size of a fairy, and could easily go through the small doorway, however I was a bit disappointed, because I had hoped that gaining the size of a fairy, would make me slim and beautiful, but unfortunately I was still the more to love type of woman, so don't bother to take the fairy sizing potion if you need to go on a diet it wont help. You will still have to stop eating chocolate.

I had the traveling potion in my bag, but I was curious to know where the door way would lead to, so I entered the trunk. At first it was all dark, but after a few steps a light turned on, and I could see a tunnel with a strong light at the other end. Red apples were lined up in both sides of the tunnel pass. The ceiling looked like some kind of Gothic ceiling, but it tuned out to be branches shaped as gothic arcs. The light at the end of the tunnel was irresistible, so I stated to walk towards it. I yelled to see if there was anyone in the tunnel, but the only reply I had, was the echo of my own voice.

The light form the end of the tunnel turned out to be sunlight. At first it was so strong that it blinded my eyes, but after a little while my eyes adapted to the light, and an amazing view of a busy road unfolded to me. Fairies passed by me in colorful clothes, none of them seamed to take any notice of me. To the right I could see a mill and to the left a large building created form green apples. I pulled out the map I got from Mama Kauppa to check where I was, I only have a map showing the main roads called Upper Branch road, and Lower Branch Road. Upper branch Road should lead to Apple Hold Castle, but from where I was standing I could only see small buildings, all of them created from nature, so I assumed that it had to be Lower Branch Road I was standing on.

I was wondering where to go, when I saw a paperboy waving a roll of whispering leaves while he was shouting; "Read the latest news! Get Nidlongdir Post! Top story to day; Danagonia refuses to send her new collection of jewelry to Queen Agrafina!"

I approached the paperboy and asked him if I could have one of his newspapers. He pulled a leave from his roll of new papers and gave it to me. I knew from the whispering leaves that I didn't have to pay him. You can read about Leafenheim economy at: http://www.nidlongdir.dk/traveling/budget.html

As I was putting the newspaper into my ear, some one dotted me on the shoulder, I turned and much to my surprise it was my daughter Camilla. I couldn't quite believe that it acutely was her, she should be at the university having lessons as fare as I knew. What on earth are you doing here I whispered, I don't know why I whispered, but I had a feeling that I had to keep a low profile and not attract too much attention. She signaled to me to keep quiet and pulled me away from the street I followed her behind a red apple that had been turned into a building with blue windows and a pointy purple roof.

We went inside the apple building that turned out to be an Inn. Camilla pulled out a key and went up some stairs, and then she opened a round door with the key. The room looked like a worm hole in the apple, the walls where brown, and the smell was indescribable. There were two mushroom stools, and a small wooden table in the room. Camilla asked me to sit down, and I could see on the look of her face that she had some ting importuned to tell me.

Camilla was clearly nervous , she started with the usually, mom please don't get angry with me, that she always does when she has to confess that she has been doing one of her mischiefs. A mom has to hear many things before her ears will fall of, but what Camilla told me did worry me. She had been tired of attending the university, and had dropped out, because she wanted to become a jewellery designer, but she had no luck finding an apprenticeship, so she had asked Mama Kauppa for help. Mama Kauppa had told her to go to Dragonia and find the Jewellery caves and there she should look for The Amethyst Jewels cave. The owner of Amethyst Jewels had been looking for a new apprentice. Camilla had signed a contract with Amethyst Jewels, and she took a new name to make sure no one would tell me what she was up to. Camilla had decided on the name Danagonia. She hadn't been working in the Jewellery caves for very long, before Queen Agrafina heard that a new jewellery designer had been employed at the caves. There are no trading relations between Dragonia and Apple Hold Castle so the Queen had to use one of the underground trades to get some of her jewelleries.

Queen

Queen Agrafina, ordered a Wire Wrapped Pendant from Danagonia/Camilla. But unfortunately, some new style had come in fashion while she was creating it, so she didn't want it any way. This behaviour made Danagonia very angry, so when the queen asked to have her new spring collection sent to Apple Hold Castle she refused to send it to her.

The Queen is not used to be disobeyed, so she sent orders to her Guard  to arrest Danagonia, and put her to jail in the forgotten trunk, for not obeying the economic rules of Nidlongdir;

The Economic Rules of Nidlongdir

  • Those who provide supply for other shall give! Those who receive from other shall need!
  • Those who can't provide supply for others will need, and therefore they shall receive!
  • Those who are greedy will not receive, they will be sent to the forgotten trunk to lean the meaning of need!

I was shocked that my daughter had dropped out of university, but the more I have thought about it the more I approve of my daughters choice, she should do what she feels is best for her, and I am proud that she has her own opinion! If any of you worry about your children's education I would love to hear from you!

Dragonia - I Have a Confession to Make!

Wednesday, February 18, 2009, 06:50 PM [General]
Danagonia

So I have been lying to you all! But I had to! I am not studying to become a multimedia designer, I dropped out of school 6 months ago! Instead I have become an apprentice as a jewelry maker in Dragonia! If you know Ranunkel my mother, you will already have heard about this place. Otherwise, you can read about it here!

I was keeping it from my mother, as I feared her reaction. She found out the other day, because she has been apointed ambassador of Dragonia. So she was here, and I had to tell her what I have been up to the last 6 months.

It all started because I was talken with Selene about not fitting in, at my new school, and that I much rather wanted to make jewelry, but I coulden't get an apprentice anywhere. Selene talked to Mama Kauppa about it, and she ofered me an apprentice with Amathyst Jewels in Dragonia. But there where some rules I had to obey. I had to sign a contract that stated I would do whatever my master the Gnome Elgronic would ask of me, without complaint, and that if I did not stay till the end of my education I could never make jewelry again. And this will not be my own choice, a spell will be put upon me, that binds me from making jewelry. This is because if the powers I learn are used in the wrong way, things could go very wrong. So I agreed to this, but I didn't dare to tell mother. Fortunately she was very surportive and not mad at all.

But as if this was not enough, I have gotten myself into some deep trouble. There are two fairy countries, Dragonia and Leafenheim. In Leafenheim are your more traditional fairies with flowers and all of that cute stuff. Dragonia consists of both fairies, gnomes, regular animals and many other creatures. In Leafenheim Queen Agrafina rules. She is awfull spoiled and gets whatever she wants. In Dragonia I don't get paid for my jewelry. Here the system is sharing. It is hard to explain but if someone asks for some of my jewelry I give it to them, and know that if I need something someone will just give that to me too. To make shure no one is greedy, there are strict punishments for beeing greedy and missusing the sharing system.

Queen Agrafina had ordered a costum made pendant from me, and I had worked very hard on it. I was very happy with it, and was very excited to give it to her. But I was very disappointed. When I came all she said was; "Oh! I had forgotten about that thing. I can't wear that now! It's SO last weeks colour! Send it away!" As you can imagine I felt she had missed used the sharing system, and had been greedy, but it seems those rules doesn't apply to the Queen. So nothing was done, and I still have the pendant, no one has had use of it yet.

There are only a very few students exchanges between the fairies of Nidlongdir, and humans, but there are some possibilities. If you study recycling, gardening, fashion design, art, or jewel design you might be able to be exchanged. The difficult part of a project like this, is to find a human education that will accept a fairy student in exchange.

You will also have to get your self a passport to Nidlongdir, if you didn't get it already!
