Wondering how fairies get through the winter

We had a week of bad weather here in Denmark. I am wondering what the fairies in my garden do when we have a storm, or how they manage to get through the winter.
Yesterday we had a few hours of sun shine, and I decided to sit under my apple trees to get my afternoon tea. I wasn't going to draw, just sit there relaxing, and enjoying the colours of the last summer flowers. I could smell the moisture grass, and if I reached out, I could pick an apple straight from the tree to go with my tea. The sound of bees buzzing around, and the sun strokes coming thought the tree top made me sleepy. I laid into the grass, and looked up through the treetop. It was like the earth started to spin, and I felt like I was flying through the treetop into the sky.
Properly I had dozed off for a minuet, but I had this strange feeling of someone calling for me from fare away. I looked up into the treetops to try to detect where the voice was coming from, but all I saw was a strange tunnel of tree branches, and light. The sight diapered slowly, and I felt a chill, it was like a warning of the turn of the year. Soon fall will come, the nights will get cold, Father Frost will wrap his white coat over the garden, and winter will come.
I went inside to get back to my botanical illustrations, as I picked up my brush; I knew what the strange calling was about. I was asked for help. My wondering of how the fairies in my garden survive the winter must have been heard, and I was called up on for help. I have no idea how I am supposed to help them, but I guess they will give me a hint some how.
