Christmas 2008

christmas tree

I wanted to show all of you what a Danish Christmas tree looks like.

We cut a tree down, and decorate it with all kinds of hand made decorations; most of the decoration was created by my children. The Danish Christmas trees are not as elegant as the Christmas trees you see in other part of the world. Our trees are decorated with things we save from one year to another year, and most families have decorations handed down from one generation to another.

In Denmark we celebrate Christmas on the 24th in the evening. We start with a Christmas dinner, and then we sing and dance around the tree. After the singing and dancing we open our Christmas gifts.

I had a lovely Christmas with my family. Both of my children have been home for Christmas. The fairy twins Ebbe and Selene enjoyed our Christmas tree. Ebbe went to sleep in one of the woven paper hearts on the Christmas tree, and Selene used the tree as a play ground.

It has been a long time since I saw any fairies in the garden, but one of them (properly Gry) must have been visiting, because she dropped the most enchanted Christmas dress I have ever seen on my kitchen table.

I have started to carry out Christmas, by burning down the last Christmas candles, and soon I will put the Christmas tree into the garden for recycling. I will start to decorate for the New Year celebrating, so I have send my husband to the nearest  town to buy firecrackers.  I am also painting a new painting of Selene; it is to be uploaded in the New Year!

My new year resolution is to travel into Nidlongdir, and Dragonia to try to make peace between the two fairy realms!
